Pres du Port Bed and Breakfast
Built in 1849, perched above Stonington Harbor, run by Matt, Kerry, and family. The name is French for "near the port." That's accurate — from the breakfast porch and the roof deck, you're watching fishing boats work the harbor over your morning crepes. 5.0 on Google. 4.95 on Airbnb.
Pres du Port is a five-room B&B at 91 West Main Street in Stonington, in a historic 1849 building set on the hill above the harbor. The French name is earned — the views from the enclosed breakfast porch and the roof deck are the best elevated harbor views in the village, looking out over the water and the working waterfront below.
Matt and Kerry run the place with their family. The breakfast program is genuinely good: guests have mentioned crepes, blueberry muffins, fresh-squeezed orange juice, egg casseroles, and warm chocolate chip cookies at turndown. Rooms are named after French wine regions and sky — "Beau Ciel" (Beautiful Sky), "Beaujolais" — and the aesthetic is clean, warm, and precise. Beds get consistent praise for comfort; cleanliness ratings are near-perfect.
The location sits mid-village, about a 0.3-mile walk to the heart of Stonington's Main Street, harbor docks, ferry landing, and waterfront restaurants. Some rooms have kitchenettes. Open mid-June to early August for individual bookings; the full house is available for group rental in the fall.
It's small, personal, and the kind of place where return visits accumulate because nothing went wrong and plenty went right.

What Visitors Say
"This-place-is-a-gem! The house itself is very rustic and has a lot of character and costal charm. Amazing views of the cove! Couple of minutes walking distance to the town. But what makes it a memorable experience is Kerry & Matt!!!!! They are hands down the most kindest and hospitable people! Made us feel like home from the moment we “checked in” and through out the entire stay! They also make the most amazing breakfast. I would plan a trip soon just to stay longer with them and enjoy the town."
"Friendly, knowledgeable, hosts, relaxed, historical, clean , comfortable accomodations, cozy B&B In walking distance to restaurants and views. Great balcony. Delicious breakfast. The hosts generously kept the coffee ☕☕ coming."
"Pres du Port is a little like Stonington itself: a town of lobstermen and the Opera House, down-to-earth and lofty. The bare bones of this mid 19th-century house are modest, but the B&B's longtime proprietor, Charlotte, who taught French in Connecticut during the non-summer months, infused the place with continental touches and flair. But the greatest attraction here is the view. The place looks out at the lobster boats that dot Stonington harbor and all the way out to Isle au Haut. The place is just steps from town and easy walking distance to the wonderful weekly farmers' market. The B&B is now owned by Charlotte's nephew, Phil, who grew up spending summers at the place and whose affection for it and the surrounding area is palpable."
