Stonington Farmer's Market
Friday mornings, Memorial Day through September, in the parking lot of the Island Community Center. Two hours, local vendors, rain or shine. If you're on the island for a summer week and you miss this, you missed something.
The Stonington Farmers Market runs every Friday from 10am to noon, from Memorial Day weekend through the end of September, in the parking lot at the Island Community Center on School Street. It's compact, community-run, and focused on what's actually grown and made on the island and the surrounding peninsula.
Local produce, eggs, meats, baked goods, preserves, and handmade items rotate through the season. In July and August, the native blueberries show up — Maine wild blueberries are a regional staple, and the farmers market is where you get them at peak ripeness. The market runs rain or shine, which tells you something about the vendors' commitment.
For visitors staying a week or more, a Friday morning trip to the market pairs naturally with restocking a rental kitchen or supplementing a week of restaurant meals with something you cooked yourself. The Island Community Center is easy to find on School Street.
