Roaring Lion Farm is on Snows Cove Road in Sedgwick, just off the peninsula before you reach Deer Isle. The farm raises Meishan pigs — a heritage breed from China known for exceptional fat marbling and flavor — alongside grass-fed beef and a range of organic produce. The market that grew out of the farm now carries products from neighboring producers: local dairy, artisan bread, flowers, grains, beer, wine.
The Saturday and Sunday market runs 8am to 2pm. On weekends, breakfast sandwiches go out on house English muffins — made with farm eggs and whatever's good that week. In summer, burger nights use grass-fed beef from the farm.
Reviews uniformly note three things: the quality of the food, the views over the farm's pastures, and the warmth of the owners. For a small operation, it draws a crowd. Come on the early side on weekends.
