LDI Lobster Dock & Dine
Eat a whole steamed lobster at a dock on Little Deer Isle, wash it down with a milkshake made with Gifford's hard serve and an iced coffee from 44 North roasted right here on the island. The menu runs from ahi tuna sandwiches on brioche to steamer clams to veggie burgers — all of it served with a view of the water.
LDI Lobster Dock & Dine is on Little Deer Isle Road, right on the water. Whole lobsters are steamed in a saltwater bath and served with drawn butter and lemon. That's the centerpiece, but the menu is more expansive than most waterfront lobster shacks: house lobster roll with tail, knuckle, and claw, just a trace of mayo, warm butter drizzle; a lobster BLT; ahi tuna grilled rare with wasabi aioli on brioche; local mussels; steamer clams; chowder; a real burger; a veggie burger with roasted pepper aioli.
The milkshakes use Gifford's hard serve — a Maine staple. The iced coffee is 44 North cold brew, roasted right here on Deer Isle. Maine Root sodas and Green Bee Honey Soda complete the beverage program for the non-alcohol crowd.
The "Russell" — their specialty lobster roll plus bacon — is the thing to know about if you want the full version.
They close for the season and return Memorial Day weekend. The website also sells merch: t-shirts, tote bags, hats, stickers, and the "Powered by Butter" canvas tote that sums up the aesthetic.
