Fifield Lobster Co

Stonington, Maine 4.6 (9)
A fourth-generation fishing operation on Burnt Cove, family-owned since 1940. Travis and Christina Fifield run the wharf where lobstermen have been landing their catch for over eighty years — and where Burnt Cove Boil now sets up picnic tables for summer seafood dinners on the same working waterfront.

The Fifield wharf has been a fixture on Burnt Cove since 1940. The current operators, siblings Travis and Christina Fifield, are the fourth generation of their family to run it. Since taking over in 2018, they've put significant investment into infrastructure — expanded facilities, upgraded equipment — to better serve the fishermen who depend on the wharf to sell their catch and access the waterfront.

The wharf is a working operation: lobster comes in, gets weighed, gets bought. It's not a tourist attraction in the conventional sense. But it's the kind of place that defines Stonington — a multi-generational commercial fishing business that has outlasted economic cycles, weather, and change.

In recent years, the Fifields have allowed Burnt Cove Boil — hosted by Jake McCarty — to operate on the grounds during summer months. Picnic tables go out at Fifield Point, the lobster comes straight from the boats, and guests eat on the water with a view of the exact boats that caught their dinner.

What Visitors Say

"They don't do a lot of direct-to-consumer sales, but the Fifields are great people. Easily some of the, if not the nicest folks in town. They do their best to treat others respectfully and care a lot about the community they're a part of. People who work with them seem to think so as well, and you can't beat that in business. Doesn't hurt that they've got one of the best views in the entire world right on their doorstep."
