Buck's operates out of Brooksville, a short drive up the peninsula from Deer Isle. It's a seasonal restaurant in the truest sense: they open in May, they source what's available, and they build a menu around it. Fresh local seafood anchors the list — halibut, haddock, lobster, scallops — alongside premium meats and local produce.
The raw bar is a reason to show up on its own: oysters and clams from Penobscot Bay, shucked to order. The kitchen plays with global technique alongside the Maine staples — Haddock Wellington, lobster gratin, Alaskan snow crab with yuzu beurre blanc alongside a straightforward lobster roll. Dishes like the spaghetti with puttanesca and lobster make it clear someone back there is cooking with intention.
Happy hour at the bar is consistently mentioned by regulars. Craft cocktails, local beers, good wine. The vibe is casual but the cooking is not.
They're open seasonally, returning around Memorial Day. Closed for winter. 2026 opening: May.
