A self-described "destination gallery" at the end of Weed Field Road in Stonington — open by chance or appointment, with regular hours a few days a week in high summer and pop-up pARTy! events on select Saturdays. If the flag is out, you're welcome. If it's not, call first.
Art by Katy Gallery is Katy Allgeyer's rustic home gallery on a back road in Stonington. It's not on the main drag, and that's the point. Allgeyer runs it as a personal creative space as much as a selling venue — a place where contemporary oil work and mixed media paintings share floor space with vintage collectibles, jewelry, and occasionally home décor or gift items.
The gallery format is deliberately low-key. Allgeyer calls it "open by chance" and means it: during most of the season, there's no full-time staff, no guaranteed hours. The flag out front is the signal. When it's flying, drop in. When it's not, she asks that you call ahead or arrange a private appointment, particularly if you're making the drive specifically for the gallery.
The pARTy! events — Saturday evenings from 4 to 7pm — are the gallery at its most active, mixing fine art with informal socializing ("fine art, fine people, and fine munchies," in Allgeyer's words). Guest artists rotate through alongside her own work. During 2025, Allgeyer announced she's redirecting energy toward studio work and personal projects, so the pace has shifted further toward private visits and selective exhibitions.
Local Tips
- Regular hours run July 17–October 5: Monday–Thursday 11:30am–4:30pm, plus pARTy! Saturday evenings 4–7pm.
- Outside regular hours, the open flag is your only real-time indicator. Call 207.367.6369 if you need certainty.
- Saturday pARTy! events are social events as much as art events — bring cash for the work, come ready to talk.
- Parking is in the driveway or on the gallery lawn. Saturday event overflow parks across the road (the lobsterman's lot).
