What Visitors Say

"The Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries is doing a fantastic job raising awareness for and supporting Maine's vital coastal fisheries, and advocating for a safe and sustainable fishing industry. They are instrumental in educating the public, through a variety of different means and media, including their wonderful Discovery Wharf staffed by the incomparable Leroy (of Ask Leroy! fame), and also educating students through their Eastern Maine Skippers program where they encourage local youth to learn about the fishing industry while ensuring they carry on with their studies. Good people here. They've recently installed a series of informational panels out back with one of the best views of Stonington harbor. Go learn, contribute, and help!"

"This was a great place to take kids. The touch tank was really fun for the kids to hear all about the creatures and be able to touch them as their parts were explained. They also showed how lobster get stuck in traps. Kids and adults both learned something new"

"What a fantastic, interesting Discovery Center! My son spent ages in the touch pool looking at scallops, crabs, barnacles etc. The best thing about this place is the incredibly knowledgeable staff. Leroy Weed (an old local fisherman) is a wealth of local information and history. He tells it all in such a captivating way. It was a pleasure to meet such a charming person!"
